Tips For A Successful Company Ice Cream Social

Posted on: 14 March 2019

An ice cream social is a fairly low-key way to reward your employees or create a social environment during company conferences. You don't have to worry about transporting everyone off-site to a dessert establishment; instead, a catering company can bring in an array of flavors that your employees will like. It's a simple setup that gives your employees a treat while minimizing the logistical issues for you, and you just need to know a few things to create a successful social.

Go for a Moderate Number of Flavors, Sizes, and Cone Options

It's tempting to create a real party with a ton of flavors and options, but that will just slow down the line. Go for some standards like vanilla and strawberry, a few fancier standards like mint chip and butter pecan, and then a couple of fashionable flavors like birthday cake and unicorn. The catering company can bring in a few toppings and have a catering employee dole out the scoops and create sundaes.

Remember the Vegan, Non-Dairy, and Carb-Counting Crowds

Whether it's due to a milk allergy, a religious rule, a dietary requirement, or personal preference, the number of people trying to find non-traditional ice cream is growing rapidly. Some ice cream catering companies have responded by adding options for these groups, such as vegan packages that you can include in your order. If you go with a company that doesn't offer these, do provide some store-bought options so these employees won't feel left out.

Ensure That the Ice Cream Company Is Insured

Unless your budget requires that you go to a supermarket and bring back a bunch of pints of ice cream yourself, you're better off hiring an ice cream catering company. These companies can bring in ice cream in carts that have freezer capabilities (or at least dry ice) so that you're not dealing with melted ice cream a half hour into the social. You do want the company to be insured, partly in case their equipment damages something onsite, but also so that if anyone in your company has an issue with the ice cream, the company will be able to respond.

Each ice cream cart catering company has a different menu and different policies, so don't leave finding one to the last minute. The earlier you can arrange for a caterer to work at the social, the easier it will be to get the flavors and other options you want.
